Rose Queen and her Royal Court :
Every year, late in September or early in October, a competition is organized to select a Pasadena-area girls in the age group of 17 to 21 for the honor of being crowned Queen of the Tournament of Roses and six princess who are members of her “Royal Court”.
These 7 girls are selected from a competition in which over 1000 girls participate ever year.
The winners i.e., the Rose Queen and her Royal Court then ride on a float in the Rose Parade and prior to the parade they carry out various promotional activities to promote the Tournament of Roses, mainly during its duration and prelude.
I am sure by now you are eager to know more about the 2017 Rose Queen and her Royal Court.
Who is Rose Queen 2017 ?
Victoria Castellanos has been crowned as the Rose Queen 2017 for the 2017 Rose Parade which is scheduled to take place on January 2, 2017.
Victoria Castellanos became the 99th Rose Queen. She was selected as the 2017 Rose Queen on 20th October 2016.
17 year-old Victoria Cecilia Castellanos, a senior at Temple City High School is involved in musical theater, volunteers with animal groups and the American Legion and enjoys creative endeavors like writing short stories, reading and painting. She was selected to be the queen among the seven members of the 2017 Tournament of Roses Royal Court present at the event.
The Rose Queen and Royal Court were chosen based on their public speaking ability, poise, academic achievement, and community involvement, among other qualifications.
The Rose queen will now make as many as 100 community and media appearances leading up to the 128th Rose Parade on January 2, 2017.
